How do I apply for undergraduate admission?

You may apply for admission online.  If you would like, a paper application can be mailed to your home address. If you decide to apply as a new freshman, your high school transcript with a tentative class rank and grade point average should also be submitted as soon as possible. Also, the results of you ACT or SAT tests should be sent with your transcript to expedite the admission process. You can mail those to:

Can I apply online?

Sure you can. You can apply online for undergraduate admission at Apply Now and for graduate admission at Apply Now.

When will my application be reviewed for admission?

Applications are reviewed as they are received. Depending on the time of year, it takes approximately one month to process an application. However, once the application deadline has passed, applications will be reviewed somewhat more quickly.

How many students are normally accepted into each program? What is the rate of acceptance?

There is no limit in the acceptance rate. Applicants are accepted/rejected based upon their credentials.

Is it necessary to take the Computer Science GRE Subject Exam?

No, but if you do take it, please report your score to us as it may enhance your chances for admission and financial aid.

How do I apply to financial aid?

First complete and return the Free Application for Student Financial Aid to the Department of Education. Second check with the school's financial aid department to complete any required documentation. Then complete and return all required forms to the financial aid office of the particular college/university.

Is Financial Aid Available for International Students?

International students are required to show proof of financial support through bank and sponsor statements. Financial aid and/or assistantships should not be relied on for funding of housing or education.

Can I transfer my credit from other school?

Please see the respective pages for graduate programs and undergraduate programs.

Can I defer my admission?

Yes, an email is to be sent to the Graduate School. You may only defer your admission one time. After that, you will need to re-apply.

What are the GRE / TOEFL / IELTS requirements for the Graduate admission?

The minimum TOEFL score requirement  to apply is 79 for TOEFL iBT Test or 6.0 for IELTS test. The TOEFL/IELTS score must be less than two years old. There is no official minimum score for GRE.

Can I check My Admission Status?

You can check your admission status online through our My Leo system.

Just click on "Registration/Student Information Access". Enter your Student I.D. number (Social Security Number). Your initial PIN number will be your six-digit birth date (MMDDYY). You will be asked to change this PIN number to another six digit number.

Under "Student Records" click on "Application Status". Select the term for which you have applied.

Note: If departmental approval is the only missing item, all documents have been received and the file is with the department for review and recommendation.

Do you offer tours to Computer Science Department and Texas A&M University-Commerce?

General campus tours of the university are available at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We also conduct tours on Saturday at 10:00am. We do welcome walk-in tours.

We can also schedule an appointment with the departmental dean or a professor in your major area that can answer specific questions you may have about your major. So, if you wish to speak with a representative in your major area, reservations should be made at least one day in advance. Most academic and administrative offices are closed on Saturday for Fall and Spring, and Friday and Saturday for Summer.

How am I assigned an advisor?

The department will assign an academic adviser for coursework or degree requirement.

Do I need a TOEFL score?

International students are required to submit a score less than two years old. The paper-based test must have a minimum score of 500. The computer-based test must have a minimum of 173. The TOEFL may be waived if you have received a degree from a regionally accredited university in the United States. We feel strongly that a student must be able to understand the language to be successful.
