aPECc April 15, 2016
The First Annual Programming Efficiency Conference and Challenge (aPECc) was held on April 15, 2016 on the campus of Texas A&M University Commerce. The invited speaker was Donald May from L3-Communication in Greenville, Tx. Donald is a graduate of the Department of Computer Science at TAMUC and discussed some issues that are encountered in writing efficient code as a professional programmer. A short tutorial was given by Dr. Daniel Creider, associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at TAMUC. The topic of the tutorial was an area of Dr. Creider's research, "An Introduction to Programmer Optimized Source Code". The programming challenge consisted of finding the mode(s) in a data set of at least 30 million random data values. The winners were selected based on the fastest execution speed for a series of data sets. The undergraduate winner was David Rojas and the graduate winner was Jithendar Anandan. 2015 Alumni Ambassador
Mr. Terry Hansen was invited as Alumni ambassador to Texas A&M University - Commerce on February 26th, 2015 . He visited the Department of Computer Science to visit classrooms, labs and to meet faculty and students.
