Non-Honors Credit

Students with extenuating circumstances may occasionally request Honors credit for a non-Honors course. Students must receive approval from the Dean of Honors and execute a special contract with the faculty member teaching the course.

To request Honors credit for a non-Honors course, students should:

  • Complete Part I of the request form and obtain approval from the Dean of Honors. Dean approval must be obtained prior to instructor approval.
  • Complete Part II of the request form and obtain instructor approval.
  • Submit both the request form and the syllabus for the course to the Honors Office within the first two weeks of the semester in which the requested course is taken.

Students in the Honors College and Regents Scholar Program will be limited to one Honors by Contract course in entirety of their degree. This process is not intended for freshmen or sophomore students, and should only be used as necessary in the junior and senior year. Any deviation from this policy must be approved by the Dean of Honors.
