David Smith
David Smith was born July 19, 1944 in Columbiana, Alabama and graduated from Jacksonville, AR high school in 1962. He married the former Paula Wilson on December 1966. After being honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1968, David was employed in December 1968 by Texas Instruments. After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1969 with a BA in Math, David pursued and completed his MS in Math in 1972 from East Texas State University, now East Texas A&M University. He held various management positions beginning as production supervisor, production planner, product engineer and product engineering manager, international cost reduction manager and was assigned as the Country Manager for TI Korea by 1978.
David served as Managing Director for TI Bipolar integrated circuits factory from 1980-1985 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and served as MD for TI Singapore from 1985 until 1991. Following his career with TI, David served as CEO/President of TECH Semiconductor, a $1 Billion joint venture. He retired from TECH Semiconductor in June 2002 and relocated back to Frisco, Texas. David and Paula enjoy church, their grandchildren, golf, reading and exercise. They also enjoy working and traveling the world visiting orphans and needy children in third world countries in support of Vision Trust International.
