Dr. Jangsup Choi’s CV 

Jangsup Choi received his Ph.D. in Political Science at Texas Tech University in 2010 with an emphasis on American Politics and Comparative Politics. His dissertation investigated the conditional nature of the U.S. Senator’s ideological congruence to constituent preferences. Before joining Texas A&M University-Commerce, he had taught American Government and American Public Policy at Texas Tech University, American Political Parties, American State and Local Government, and American Government and Policy at the University of Texas at Brownsville. His teaching interests include Political Behavior, American Political Parties, Public Opinion, American Presidency, and Data Analysis.

His research interests involve political behavior, campaigns and elections, U.S. Congress, and Asian politics, with special attention to the decision-making process largely influenced by institutional and electoral arrangements. His research paper, “Issue Preferences and the Voting Behavior of Muslim Americans in the 2000 and 2004 Presidential Elections,” coauthored with Dennis Patterson and Gamal Gasim, was published on Politics and Religion. His recent publications have been appeared on Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism, Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations, Korea Journal, Korea Observer, and The Korean Journal of Area Studies. His research paper “Inter-Korean Engagement and Human Rights in North Korea” was presented at the Heritage Foundation. He is currently working on a project investigating Korea’s diplomatic revolution and the other assessing the U.S. senator’s representation and strategic behavior.
