Dr. M. Joan Terry has served in a variety of administrative roles. She received her B.A. and M.Ed. at East Texas State University and Ph.D. at Texas Woman’s University and the University of the Netherlands. She has served as a secondary teacher, university professor, university department chair, and assistant superintendent of schools. She has also served as president of Terry and Associates and led numerous community organizations.
Dr. Terry is the Assistant Superintendent, Policy, Planning and Research, Rockwall Independent School District. She has served as Chair, Department of Home Economics at Appalachian State University, and Chair, Department of Home Economics at Southwest Texas State University.
Dr. Terry has served as the District Administrator, Rockwall ISD Education Foundation, Inc. since its establishment in October 2003. Simultaneously, six years were spent on the Texas State University Development Foundation Board of Directors. The position of Chair was held for three years (1996-1999). During this period of time, in excess of 60M was raised.
Dr. Terry has presented at state, national and international conferences, chaired numerous district, state, national and university committees, and contributed, reviewed or authored over twenty publications. Locally, she served as president of Rockwall Women’s League, Rockwall Friends of the Library, and others.
