Faculty Development Leave

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS: DECEMBER 1*

Faculty Development Leave is designed to promote the development of its faculty and to assist faculty in their pursue of worthy academic study, research, writing, field observations and/or other suitable purposes that require significant time and the absence of distractions. Faculty Development Leaves are subject to the laws, policies, procedures and regulations of the State of Texas, Texas A&M University System and East Texas A&M University (ETAMU).

The Faculty Development Committee invites all full-time faculty members (1) whose full-time duties, as contractually specified, are teaching and/or research and (2) who have served as members of the faculty at ETAMU for a minimum of two consecutive, full-time academic years, to apply for Faculty Development Leave.

Faculty Development Leave will be reviewed for award in the next academic year (fall semester at full base pay, spring semester at full base pay, or fall and spring semesters at half base pay).

The Faculty Development Leave procedure and Faculty Development Leave application (Laserfiche form) are available below. Applications including a current vita must be submitted with the application via Laserfiche.

Applicants must submit their proposal allowing adequate time to route through the department head and dean for their approval.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to monitor the routing of the proposal to ensure it completes routing through the department head and dean no later than the deadline of December 1.

*The deadline for submitting proposals is no later than December 1st. If December 1st falls on a weekend, the due date will be the next business day.
