TAMUC Lion Head Logo NSF Logo

Introduction

The REU in Theoretical and Application Driven Mathematics (TADM) at East Texas A&M University aims to develop a well-rounded, globally competitive STEM workforce by recruiting twelve undergraduate students each year in an eight-week summer research experience.

The focus will be on providing a research setting that provokes stimulating, creative, application-driven research that motivates undergraduate students to research in Mathematics. The project topics will vary each year based on faculty availability.

Description

The Department of Mathematics at East Texas A&M University (formally Texas A&M University – Commerce) will recruit 12 undergraduate students for the Theoretical and Application Driven Mathematics (TADM) REU program. TADM-REU program is supported by the National Science Foundation under the grant DMS-2243991.

During the 2025 REU program, the student participants will learn and investigate open problems in Applied Algebra/Discrete Mathematics, Complex Analysis, Analysis and Operator Theory. They will work in a collaborative research environment under the supervision of faculty mentors. Each week specific time is incorporated into the schedule for professional development, including hosting external visitors from academic institutions and industry, preparing for graduate school, discussing internships, and employment opportunities at the end of the program. Students will disseminate their research findings through poster and oral presentations and written reports and submit their manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
