THE PURPOSE OF THE CENTER:
The Center provides discipline-related staff activities, engages in research projects with member colleges, and shares concerns of common interest with community college faculty and administrators. The Center is committed to assisting colleges in serving their students effectively.
Services provided by the Center include academic programs leading to degrees in higher education, a variety of workshops and conferences in response to requests from community colleges (currently, annual spring and fall general conferences are offered), and consultative services, which may include the following on-site activities:
- Institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment
- Early preparation of new administrators
- Programs for faculty and staff development
- Developmental studies program improvement
- Workshops in effective teaching
2011-2012 Conference Series
- Mr. Roberts Jones was the keynote speaker and primary resource for a conference at Texas A&M University-Commerce sponsored by the Department of Educational Leadership’s Center for Community College Education on October 14, 2011
Mr. Jones presented a lecture on Community Colleges: New Expectations/Changing Outcomes and responded to panelists and questions from audience during the ensuing discussion period. The conference was held in the Sam Rayburn Student Center
