Our facility houses two theatrical spaces, a 60+ seat studio theatre and a 300+ seat main stage theatre, in order to create a real-life atmosphere for students to produce and star in different styles and types of productions in a regular season.

The Department of Theatre consists of five faculty, seven adjunct instructions, and one office staff member. Our award-winning faculty are recognized as leaders in their fields, serving both an extensive academic and professional career. These career fields include Acting and Directing, Technical Theatre, Dramaturgy, Theory, Pedagogy, History, Management, and Playwriting – among others. There are currently 40+ undergraduate students and 60+ graduate students active in our programs. The department offers intimate class sizes which allow for a personalized educational opportunity. On average, our class sizes range from 15-20 students for lecture-based courses, and 10-15 students for practical application courses.
Each academic year, the Department of Theatre produces four shows from authors ranging from Shakespeare to Same Shepard, and styles ranging from French Farce to Contemporary Musical Theatre. Our season is split into two semesters, Fall and Spring, each consisting of two productions.
The department alternates each year between producing one children's play, with special performances held for local public school districts, or one Musical Theatre piece. Productions are held in our 300+ seat Mainstage Theatre and Black Box/Studio Theatre.

Our department is dedicated to the promotion, development, production, and appreciation of theatre through the integration of teaching, service, research, and creative work. We seek to:
The faculty provides leadership and support to the University and to national, regional, and state scholarly and professional associations. The faculty also provides consultation and adjudication services to educational institutions and community organizations.
Faculty and students provide theatrical performances as a means to enhancing the University's and surrounding community's cultural and intellectual appreciation of the arts.
The Department of Theatre hosts three professional organizations: Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor fraternity, United States Institution for Theatre Technoloy (USITT), and Cricket City Improv troupe.
Whether a technician, performer, or educator, each organization provides students with preparation for their future professional career.
