Fire and Life Safety

The Department of Facilities & Construction conducts fire safety inspections of campus facilities, assists in the development and implementation of emergency evacuation planning, and assists with testing of all fire detection/suppression systems to ensure compliance with nationally recognized codes and standards.

Do you know?

Do you know where the nearest exits are? Do you know where the nearest fire extinguisher is located? Do you know what the fire alarm sounds like? Do you know what to do in the case of an emergency? These are just some of the questions you need to know the answer to in order to stay safe. Fire and Life Safety is everyone's responsibility!

Micromobility Use Requirements

Micromobility is defined as lightweight vehicles such as bicycles, scooters, boards, etc. with drive systems which may be electric only, electric assist, or analog. Micromobility may be personally owned, borrowed, leased, or rented.

The possession, use, charging, and storage of electric micromobility devices, i.e., e-scooters, e-bikes, hover boards, uni-wheels, etc. is prohibited in all campus owned and leased properties, including residence halls. This notice is due to ongoing fire safety concerns.  The batteries for electric micromobility devices have a history of overheating and causing fires.
