Fire and Life Safety
Do you know where the nearest exits are? Do you know where the nearest fire extinguisher is located? Do you know what the fire alarm sounds like? Do you know what to do in the case of an emergency? These are just some of the questions you need to know the answer to in order to stay safe. Fire and Life Safety is everyone's responsibility so please keep the following in mind:
- Candles, incense burners, oil lamps, and other items with open flames or that smolder, are prohibited.
- Keep combustible material storage to a minimum and ensure it is stored correctly.
- Ensure decorations are hung in a safe manner and do not interfere with any fire and life safety devices or exits.
- Extension cords are to be used strictly for temporary use (< 8 hours) and power strips are not to be "daisy chained" - use permanent wiring.
- Ensure electrical panels are not blocked.
- Know the location of fire extinguishers and ensure they are not blocked.
- Know the location of exits and ensure corridors and exit doors are not blocked.
