Bill and Ann Stokes Theatre Scholarship

Committee: Jim Tyler Anderson, Gary Burton, John Hanners, Carrie Klypchak, Michael Knight, Jr.—Faculty.

  • 8-10 per semester, $200-300
  • Level of Standing:  Current or entering undergraduate or graduate students
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, letters of recommendation, dedication and contribution to the theatre program (or, in the case of new students, potential for artistic achievement).
  • Renewable:  Yes

Hoyle and Ann Julian Oglesby Theater Scholarship

Committee: Jim Tyler Anderson, Gary Burton, John Hanners, Carrie Klypchak, Michael Knight, Jr.—Faculty.

  • 1 annually, $500
  • Level of Standing:  Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Theatre
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, merit, dedication and contribution to the theatre program.
  • Renewable:  No

Curtus L. "Pat" Pope Theatre Scholarship

Committee: Jim Tyler Anderson, Gary Burton, John Hanners, Carrie Klypchak, Michael Knight, Jr.—Faculty.

  • 1 annually, $600-700
  • Level of Standing:  Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Theatre
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, merit, dedication and contribution to the theatre program.
  • Renewable:  Yes

Kay L. Coughenour Offstage/Backstage Award

  • Level of Standing: Current Undergraduate Student majoring in Theatre with a concentration in technical/design theatre
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by a committee chaired by a theatre faculty member (currently Jim Tyler Anderson) appointed by the Department Head and composed of current graduate students.
  • Renewable: No

Janet Farr Swart Playwriting Endowed Scholarship

Committee: Gary Burton, Jim Tyler Anderson—Faculty; James Swart, Visitor

  • 1 annually, $500-600
  • Level of Standing: Current undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Theatre who demonstrate outstanding playwriting and scriptwriting ability and potential
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by a committee composed of theatre faculty members who teach playwriting (currently James T. Anderson and Gary D. Burton) and James Swart. 
  • Renewable: No

Curtis L. "Pat" Pope Theatre Scholarship

  • 1 annually, $600-700
  • Level of Standing:  Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Theatre
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty who will evaluate “the students artistic talent and potential in relation to career goals.” The Scholarship is for the “benefit of Theatre students attending Texas A&M University-Commerce.”
  • Renewable:  Yes

  • 1-2 per year, $200-300
  • Level of Standing:  Current or entering undergraduate or graduate students
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, letters of recommendation, dedication and contribution to the theatre program (or, in the case of new students, potential for artistic achievement).

  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, merit, dedication and contribution to the theatre program.

Outstanding Student in Graduate Theatre Studies

  • Level of Standing: Current graduate students
  • Minimum Requirements: Chosen by theatre faculty based on grade point average, merit, dedication and contribution to the theatre program.

  • Level of Standing: First-year freshmen or transfer students who entered in the Fall or Spring Semesters.
