Why Accessibility Matters
The IT Accessibility Center reflects the East Texas A&M University (TAMUC) ongoing commitment to provide access to information resources and technologies to individuals with disabilities.
The IT Accessibility Center Initiatives
- Vision: To create a culture of access for a thorough learning and working environment.
- Mission: To help TAMUC university members in carrying out the EIR Accessibility procedure by developing guidelines, implementing strategies, tools and resources.
- Principle: To apply an approach to the design of products and services to be usable by the greatest number of people including individuals with disabilities.
- Strategy: To stimulate collaboration to effect changes that will ultimately benefit all.
Adopted Digital Accessibility Standard
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. East Texas A&M University follows WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards per Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
