In this video I’m going to show you how to locate the frequently asked questions about eCollege document. And then I’m going to go over some of the items that are in that document that I wanted to give special notice to. So, from the university home page, need to scroll down to myLeo. Enter your CWID , and your password. Click login. On the screen, click on eCollege up here at the top. Or you can go down here where it says eCollege, go to class. You can use either link. And then from this screen under announcement, you'll see FAQs and it will say 'please click on the following link' to locate the answers to FAQs regarding e-college. When you click on the link, this document will appear. Few of the things that I want to point out , I have to begin with the very first sentence here. First couple of sentences that are in yellow. The only course that appears in eCollege are web-enhanced courses. Face to face courses, with no online component will NOT appear in eCollege. And we get calls every term about students saying, “I’m enrolled in this course, but it's not showing up”. Well, if it’s a face to face class and the instructor is not using eCollege in any way, then the course is not going to appear in eCollege and the eCollege tab will not appear when you log on through myLeo. Because the e-college tab only appears when the student is enrolled in courses that have an eCollege component. If it’s a totally online class or if it’s a face to face class when the instructor is using eCollege for the grade book for the students to take exams, that type of thing. Another issue that we see quite often, is again a student saying, “I’m enrolled in this course and I can't see it”. Well when you login to eCollege, you will see the name of the term listed and there will be a plus sign after it. So if you're seeing a term but you're not seeing your course, click on the plus sign. And then it will change into minus sign. And then you'll be able to see your course. If the course still isn't there, then you'll need to contact your instructor and you can get that information off of the schedule of courses. Schedule of courses is in that very tiny print at the bottom of the University ‘home page’. You click on that, the screen will open. choose your department, choose your term, and then find your course. And then you'll click on the syllabus, and that will give you the contact information for the instructor. Okay let's look at this next section talking about class live pro. It’s one of the things that you need to know about this. class live pro only available in totally online classes. It doesn't appear in web enhanced classes . Also eCollege is most compatible with using a PC with ‘internet explorer’ as the browser. If you're using a MAC, you could install Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser. But be aware that, ClassLivePro is not compatible with Google chrome. So Firefox would be the best choice to use if you have a MAC. And MACs do have more accessibility issues with eCollege than a PC using internet explorer does. Highly recommend that you always do the browser test especially if you're on a MAC to see if your browser is compatible with eCollege. That will eliminate a lot of problems and questions down the line if you run the browser check first day at class. Also getting timed out is an issue that students experience when they're taking exams. And of course that's going to be very frustrating. So one way you could avoid from being timed out is you sign in through myLeo and then you click into eCollege to access to your course . Then minimize eCollege and then go back and close out myLeo, close it down completely. Because myLeo times out after twenty minutes of no activity, and then eCollege times out after ninety minutes of no activity. So if you go ahead and close myLeo that will eliminate getting kicked out or timed out after only twenty minutes. If you're in exam and you get kicked out, the first thing you need to do is to contact the eCollege helpdesk. They will give you a reference number and then you also need to email or call your instructor to let them know that you were in exam and you just got kicked out. Don’t wait a day or two later and then contact, because it is more difficult for us to to backtrack and see when you were kicked out that type of thing. So just handle that as quickly as possible. And also a good place to watch when you're logging into eCollege, there's a screen here where it has an announcement and student support services. Any announcements about what planned outages are or changes to e-college will be in this area. So you need to read this or you won't be surprised if you're trying to get into eCollege and they're doing a big update so eCollege isn't going to be available. So that will eliminate some frustration. I hope this document does prove helpful to you, and hope you have a great year.
