Incoming Freshmen

Changes to Honors College as of Fall 2021

Beginning with the Fall 2021 application cycle, we will offer a test optional admission process in addition to the traditional admissions process. Although standardized tests may provide useful information concerning an applicant’s ability to succeed at the college level, there is sufficient evidence that standardized testing does not reflect the true academic potential for all candidates. The Honors College prides itself on removing barriers for its students once they arrive on campus. A test optional admissions policy allows us to extend this removal of potential barriers to exceptional students who may lack access to resources that would better prepare them for standardized tests.

For more information, see our Test Optional Admissions page

Reminder: Changes to Honors College as of Fall 2020

Texas A&M University-Commerce has expanded our Honors College scholarship program.

As of Fall 2020, we have increased the number of scholarship offers to approximately 100 incoming freshmen, all of whom will be members of the Honors College. Scholarship offers range from 50% to 100% cost of attendance to be assigned at the time of scholarship acceptance. In line with current industry standards and best high impact practices, our capstone requirements will be determined based on a combination of scholarship amount and student goals. Capstone experiences could include: a) completion of an honors thesis, b) a group study abroad experience, or c) a competitive internship option.

First-time, full-time freshmen are eligible to apply for the Honors College scholarship, which seeks out incoming freshmen who display exceptional academic competency. Prospective students can apply via an online application found in the lefthand link “2021 Honors College Application”. An interview with the Honors council will determine fit for a particular scholarship. As of Fall 2020, no additional students will be admitted to the Regents Scholars Program.

Current/transfer students may apply to the Honors Scholar Program or Global Scholar/Global Learner Program here.
