Educational Administration

MEd - Educational Administration   (MED-EDAD)

The Department of Educational Leadership offers a Master's of Education in Educational Administration as well as professional certification programs for principals and superintendents. These differentiated programs prepare students for careers as elementary and secondary school principals, administrators of curriculum and instruction, school business administrators, school superintendents, personnel administrators, and college teachers of educational administration.

  • This program is intended for State of Texas educators.  It is not recommended for out-of-state applicants.
  • The courses for this program are available only online (no face-to-face courses).  This program is not available to international students. 
  • Minimum overall undergraduate GPA of a 2.75, or 3.00 overall on the last 60 hours of the undergraduate degree, or an overall 3.00 on a completed master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is REQUIRED for admission consideration to the program.  If one of these requirements is not met, admission will not be permitted.

Admission Consideration Requirements for All Students

  • Apply Texas Application
  • Application fee:  $50 domestic student 
  • All official transcripts - Bachelor's degree, including all transcripts used towards bachelor's degree.  Any master's degree transcript or transcripts with graduate coursework (if applicable).
  • One of the following:

    • Official General Test GRE Scores
    • Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 or higher overall
    • Completed master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least a 3.0 GPA
    • Proof of current valid Texas teacher or principal certificate

    • Minimum overall undergraduate degree GPA of a 2.75, or
    • a 3.00 overall on the last 60 hours of the undergraduate degree, or
    • a 3.00 overall on a completed master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Resume(Vita)
  • Statement of Goals:  1-2 pages, up to 500 words.  
    Address career objectives and how the master's degree
    will help you meet those goals.

  • Teaching Service Record with a minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience

  • Proof of a current valid teacher certification
