Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics (where you learn the physics of neutron stars and the origin of the elements)
Surface Physics and Nanotechnology (in our Surface Physics Laboratory)
Organic LED Display Physics (in our Organic Semiconductor Physics Laboratory)
Physics Education Research
In physics, your intelligence drives your imagination. Physics and astronomy explore the behavior and structure of matter and energy at all levels to help describe our world and our universe. Physics allows us to contemplate the origin and evolution of the universe and to develop new products and technologies that meet human needs. The fundamental laws of physics find application in almost every branch of science, engineering and technology. In the coming years, 8 out of 10 jobs will require math and computer skills – your degree in physics will help you thrive in the new economy.
Our mission: to provide a nationally-competitive foundation for careers in science and technology as well as for advanced study in physics through the acquisition of problem-solving skills and participation in the research experience.
