Office: AG/IT 222
Phone: 903-886-5166

Dr. Attardo holds degrees from The Catholic University of Milan (1986) and Purdue University (PhD, 1991). He has published on the linguistics of humor, pragmatics and semantics, primarily on issues relating to implicatures, irony, rationality, and more generally, on Neo-Gricean Pragmatics. His other areas of interest are in sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, and computational semantics.

He was the Editor-in-Chief of HUMOR: International Journal of Humor Research, for 10 years.

Dr. Attardo occasionally accepts students interested in working on topics in humor research or pragmatics. Non-degree seeking students and scholars interested in working with him are encouraged to contact him but should be self-supporting as the college can provide support for them only in very rare cases.
